(More customer reviews)This product is a decent value for the shuffleboard enthusiast who is constrained by both budget and space. The table measures 9' long but has 8' of playable surface. It is constructed of thick particle board. The playing surface appears to be particle board with an oak veneer. Assembly was a breeze, but beware: this table is heavy and it will take two people to move the package and assemble it. Another caveat is that you should be sure to assemble this on a clean, smooth, level, surface. It is assembled upside down and thus you could inadvertently scratch the visible areas if you assemble on an dirty or rugged surface. Be sure to take your time. While the holes are pre-drilled, the assemble requires that you really flex and wiggle all pieces into place and ensure all corners are square and all boards level.
Once we assembled the table (took about 20 minutes with a drill) we checked it for level. We were able to perfectly level the table (be sure to measure on the playing surface not the out edge) and, per the instructions included with the table, applied furniture polish to the play surface and then the wax beads. This table is very slick! Also, because it is short you need a light touch to keep the wickets on the table. It took some getting used to but as with any other table (of any size) once you learn the table its not too difficult.
One important note for any prospective buyer: while level, I believe the playing surface has a slight bow to it. Occasionally a puck will land in the 2 or 3 point range, rest, and then begin sliding backwards; generally leaving the scoring area all together.
The wickets, or pucks, are of a decent size, weight, and quality. It comes with a small canister of beaded wax, but you will quickly need to buy a replacement depending on the frequency with which you play.
While not without its faults, this is a fun little table and a great addition to a game room. Its a blast at parties and not unreasonably priced. I rate it as a 4 based on overall value to our family. However, if you are a true connoisseur of table-top shuffleboard, you will likely find this to be a relatively average table more in line with a 3 star rating.
