(More customer reviews)The best part about this set is that the tiles are full height and width, so they're easy-to-read. Yes, they are thinner than standard tiles, which can make them a bit harder to manipulate if you've got big hands, but the lower weight and volume make it worthwhile.
The racks are long enough to accommodate 17 tiles. I like to travel light, so I didn't bring any racks with me on my last trip. I just brought the tiles, and packed them in a zippered bag from my husband's razor. When playing with other people, we just improvised ways to keep our tiles private, and I probably would bring the racks on my next trip.
If you don't want to pay for a full-size mahj set, this would certainly make a reasonable alternative.
