Aramith Neon Billiards Ball Set Review

Aramith Neon Billiards Ball Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Pros: If you like black light, this is the only game in town I know of, and it can be made to work.
Cons:
1. The 8-ball. If it was black it would be invisible, so it's white with a black circle around a white number Eight. Check out the picture and you'll see. An unavoidable issue but it doesn't significantly interfere with play, though sizing up the table it's easy to mistake the 8-ball for the cue ball.
2. Other balls fairly dark. I searched Google shopping for Glow in the Dark billiard balls and found a set on E-Bay for under fifty dollars. Definitely inferior quality, but more glow! Their cue ball glows a dull yellow, whereas under a black light the Aramith Neon cue ball is pretty much just a different shade of white compared to the cue ball that came with my table. I ended up keeping most of Aramith's 1 through 9, but the white parts of the E-Bay balls have more chemical treatment to them, so I swapped out the cue ball and stripes 10 through 15. Even the E-Bay Orange 5-ball was far brighter than the Aramith, and normally ALL orange colors tend to glow under black light. So, prepare to be underwhelmed at the black-light effect of the balls included with this set.
2. Attachment hardware for the green tubing doesn't work for the pockets. Specifically, the tubing over the pockets will quickly come loose from your cue rubbing against the tubing on ordinary shots over the pockets. It might stay in place for a game, maybe two, but will be a constant nuisance if installed per the instructions. And worse, the attachment hardware for the pockets is tiny spikes meant to stick out of the tubing that you stick into your felt, so using this setup as designed at the least you'll make multiple pinpricks in your felt, and inevitably rip your felt.
That said, after significant installation modifications I'm very happy with the results, though depending on how expensive a table you own, and how into black light you are, you may not be interested in putting in the time and effort.
Included with the set:
Tubing, enough to outfit a nine foot table. Great responsiveness to black light, and with my table enough left over to highlight parts of the rails on the 'flip' air hockey side of my table.
Springs to attach the tubing (more later), and you get one extra of each of the two types of spring.
Black-light responsive balls. The dark blue and dark red solid balls don't glow very much compared to the neon green, and the 8-ball by necessity is white with a black circle around the eight.
Neon green round stickers for the sights along your rails. I've had to re-glue these more than once.
What look like very small rubber bands, but extra wide, responsive to black light, to put on your cue to aid in aiming your shots. I needed to be careful to put them in just the right spot to avoid interfering with shots, and was using fluorescent stickers for black light air hockey and darts anyway so I used stickers instead and am glad I went with that. BTW I plan to replace their sight stickers with another color instead of their green stickers-on-green tubing effect.
Installation:
With the Springs, you push one end into the tubing, and the other end has a hook that you snag into the inside of a pocket and then run the tubing along the railing where it won't interfere with play. The instructions say to staple the springs in place, but I don't see how anything but a staple gun (which I don't have) would work for this purpose, and this step hasn't been necessary even rotating my table between billiards and air hockey.
The big flaw with this system is with the tubing over the pockets. It needs to be installed around the outside edges on top of the pockets. Instead of hooks on the other end of the spring there are 'points' that you're supposed to jab into the felt. First, what if you had a really nice table, would you really want to be intentionally damaging your felt like that? Second, making a shot from behind/above a pocket with tubing installed will dislodge the tubing. I'd say this issue is why the instructions are telling you to staple the tubing in place. With my table I took 3M double-sided adhesive tape and applied it directly to my rails, then glued the tubing on with Super Glue gel. Regardless, be prepared to permanently damage your pool table to get this setup to work.

Brunswick Centennial 2 1/4" billiard ball set . - Billiards Equipment Review

Brunswick Centennial 2 1/4 billiard ball set . - Billiards Equipment
Average Reviews:

You basically have two mainline choices for top-quality billiard balls: Upper-end Aramith balls or the Centennials. They are so close as to be identical in specs and performance. I'd take either one, depending on the best price at the time. I have the Centennials and am completely satisfied with them. Note that the Super Aramith Pros come with the Pro Cup cue ball (with the red spot), however, which some prefer.

I ordered this billiard set as a home warming gift for my brother in law. Because we live in another state, we had it sent directly to his new home. He received it promptly and loves them. He uses them all them time, and has a lot of parties at his house as he gets compliments on them from all his friends. They were defiantly worth the money and I would recommend this product and this company to other people.

Criss Cross Practice Training Billiard Pool Cue Ball Review

Criss Cross Practice Training Billiard Pool Cue Ball
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Criss Cross Practice Training Billiard Pool Cue Ball
Negative:
The white surface of the ball has imperfections as if the paint ran and puddled up.
Negative:
The weight of the ball is not centered - out of balance - which causes the ball to roll off to one side. Tested in multiple directions in comparison to an Aramith red circle cue ball.
Positive:
The graphic on this cue ball is useful for basic pool training purposes.
Positive:
The color of the cue ball is much whiter than the shade of many other cue balls, which makes it subjectively look better in pool related photography.
Bottom Line:
4 Stars = Good cue ball for photography and basic pool training.
1 Star = Very poor cue ball for more advanced training or general pool play.
What should it be rated? Depends on its use. I don't need it for playing pool. But I do need it for basic pool instruction and photography. And I needed it for more advanced pool instruction, for which it is useless because the ball doesn't roll straight. So for my needs, I rate it 2 stars.

This is a cheap plastic clock. The hands rattle when moved. The "pool balls" are nothing more than a very bad photo copy of pool balls. Bought as a gift and was too ashamed to give it.

Antique Style Pool Table Billiard Ball - Balls Set Review

Antique Style Pool Table Billiard Ball - Balls Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
From Iszy Billiard's site:
Grade A deluxe quality Antique style pool ball set - 2 1/4" regulation size and weight - 6 ounce balls
And now the truth:
These are more like Grade C quality, nothing deluxe about it, more like misleading quality - definitely not regulation.
This is a nice looking set of pool balls (in my opinion), just like the ones I shot with when I was young. But folks, this isn't rocket science. These are cheap, made in China pool balls with low manufacturing tolerances. These pool balls widely vary in size and weight, which is NOT as described by Iszy Billiards / Amazon.
I weighed each pool ball with my 35 pound digital scales and found a variance in weight from about 6.35 oz to 6.63 oz oz. I weighed and re-weighed each ball in ounces and grams to get more accurate results. Then, lining up the cue ball and 8 ball along a pool table cushion (the 2 largest and heaviest balls in the set) with any other ball in between these two balls, showed a variance in height of about 2 mm. That too is not regulation. Any straight edge will work. But I used a high grade aluminum ruler over the top of the cue ball and 8 ball to easily see the gap between the ruler and each other ball in the set.
What makes this even worse:
I bought this set several months ago when Iszy Billiards / Amazon previously listed it here - when that listing had a few reviews, which included my original review. However, Iszy Billiards / Amazon deleted that previous listing and all of the reviews. They apparently did this to keep customers from reading the reviews (or primarily mine since it was so scathing) so they could sell more of these inferior pool ball sets. Iszy Billiards / Amazon re-listed this item, but changed nothing in the description - leaving it still incorrect and misleading.
Shame on Iszy Billiards. And hopefully Amazon will implement measures to prevent this type of unscrupulous practice from reoccurring.

I don't actually own this item. But one very important thing to consider before buying these - how will you tell stripes and solids apart? They're cool looking balls otherwise.

Seriosly though, these arrived fairly quickly and my normal crew loved them. It took awhile for them to adjust to the marbled colors especially the 8 ball, but these are sweet and a great conversation piece while playing. Worth the money. Rack 'Em

I've enjoyed the look of this set, but I wish they were more durable. I always get compliments when friends see them. I've had them for about a year now and have noticed quite a bit of scratches. I ended up purchasing sets of both Brunswick and Aramith on ebay, which appear to have a better performance and durability.

I bought these for use on my apartment complex's community pool table which presently has 7 balls, and no cue stick. My intention was to have balls that are unique, so that there would be no mix ups with other peoples' balls. These billiards balls are surprisingly very shiny, and look great. They seem to be very durable, and come at a great price. I highly recommend them!!
